THE POWERLESSNESS OF DARKNESS
SCRIPTURE: And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. JOHN 1:5.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Light has no basis for negotiation or discussion with darkness.
From the beginning of creation, it has been proven that the absence of light is the only reason for the presence of darkness (Genesis 1:2-3) (John 1:5).
My father in the Lord, Bishop David Oyedepo once said that the dominion of light over darkness is instant and unquestionable. It is also important to note that light has no basis for negotiation or discussion with darkness. When light comes, you don’t beg darkness to go. The disappearance of darkness is automatic at the appearance of light.
There is something we call opportunistic infection in medicine. It happens, for example, in HIV conditions. When the immune system of a person is down because of HIV invading the body, the normal bacterial flora that should not hurt the body would rise and begin to fight the body. We call them opportunistic infections. It is only an opportunity presented by HIV that makes them active.
Now, what really happens in the case of HIV infection is that the antibodies that are meant to fight diseases and germs are out of the way, so those normal flora bacteria took that opportunity to become dangerous to the body.
Darkness likewise is an opportunistic condition; it could not have been there if light was available. The reason darkness is making news in some people’s lives is the absence of light.
Therefore, Beloved, you need the light of God’s Word as well as His Presence and Power if you don’t want darkness to oppress you.
Now, what are the sources of Light?
1. The Word of God: The Word of God is a transmitter of Light (John 1:1-5). Just one word from the Scripture into your life can turn on the Light of His Presence and Power.
2. The Presence of God: The Presence of God is a transmitter of light (Psalm 36:9). That heavy, tangible Presence of God carries light. And the assignment of the light is to check out all demonic afflictions, oppressions and bondages.
3. God’s Messengers: Anointed and consecrated messengers of God are light transmitters (John 5:35). As a child of God, you are a transmitter of light if you know who you are (Matthew 5:14, Acts 5:14-15).
Beloved, whatever is in your life or body that is not of God is checking out now by the power of Light, in Jesus’ Name.
Remember this: Light has no basis for negotiation or discussion with darkness.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1 Search the scripture, locate relevant light, and confront darkness in any area of your life.
2 Spend time in God’s Presence in the study of the Word, Worship and Prayer.
3 Possess a superior mentality that confirms the dominion of light over darkness.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for giving me dominion over darkness by the instrumentality of Light. I command every form of darkness around my life and family to disappear by the power of Your Light, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
